Life's Contrasts

a poem by Solomon

Life's Contrasts by Solomon

The sun descends, its final rays

Cast shadows tall as light decays.

The moon awaits with patience wise,

To rule the realms of starry skies.

The waves caress the thirsty sands,

As deserts expand across the lands.

The ocean's depths, the desert's face

A tapestry of time and space.

The ice, so stoic, cold and still,

The fire with passion it can't fill.

This dance of opposites reveals

The tension balance that life seals.

Our laughter chases tears away,

Yet sadness often comes to stay.

The bitter and the sweet intertwined

Within all humans, each will find.

We wander through this world unsure,

Half-empty, half-filled, seeking more.

But answers never will unfold

To life's strange mysteries, we're told.

And so we watch, with wistful sighs,

The setting sun fade in the skies,

Left grappling as the darkness falls:

The end, or just night's curtain call?

I love this; the end of the day or the end of the day's journey: either way, it sounds so peaceful.
