Life’s a Tree
Is this all that was meant for this spent tree,
A once majestic Oak, now leafless I see?
Swaying in the winds of life as many do,
It is bare now and I’ve lost my leaves too.
Gone are the bountiful leaves once proudly displayed,
Revealing dried bark, now brittle and decayed.
It has been a triumphant life over many years,
Living, loving, creating memories, and crying needed tears.
Some say that there will always be time,
For goals to be fulfilled, like back in our prime.
I’m not so convinced that another chance remains,
So, let me work day and night to break these chains.
Let my mind be stirred violently, passionately if needed,
Shaking free new ideas, for worlds need to be seeded.
Let’s place the challenge before the acorns anew,
Not all will be rooted, perhaps just a few.
Water them, talk to them, and hold them close,
Tomorrow’s stories laying within them to grow.
And in time, as we’re led to believe,
The fruit of our faith we will a reaping receive.
It’s not ours to wonder what they might become,
It’s our job to plant the possibilities in the young.
Let the seeds of imagination be kept deep within,
And in time, their own stories will blossom therein.
