Mirrors Lie

We’re told from such an early age that they’re faultless reporters

Journalists with impeccable standard, simply repeating what they see.

This is the worst kind of lie - one that is demonstrably true.

The sky is blue.

The sky isn’t blue.

Chameleons blend in.

These aren’t truths.

These are Perceptions.

The sky is no more blue than water is.

The appearance is not the fact.

Chameleons change color not to hide, but to talk

The mirror is a shining falsehood, a single angle of a complicated portrait

Your worth is not captured in something so imperfect.

Too great to be compressed, to be expressed

To be held in such paltry glass.

Remember this as a vital reality, a bridge back when you are twisted with Mirror’s lies.

You are the perceiver. You are the forger of your world.

Create it in your image: Beautiful. Powerful. Warm and Wild and many-dimensioned.

Be fierce in your truth-seeking. Never take a liar at their word.
