Liabilities and Assets

Corporate Antagonists

In our world

Assets are best kept liquid

liabilities limited.

Banks line up to help us keep our cash flowing,

our debts consolidated.

Corporations prey on our children,

marketing to their must-haves.

This instigates the endless hours

of them crying of their deprivation.

Endless barrages of implied sexual dominance,

Innuendos from a paper thin,

porcelain-complexioned barbie doll

that our beauty is less.

The latest in technology

outdating our most recent major purchase.

It's been rendered pre-historical.

We watch commercials

intended to change our evil ways.

Don't smoke!

Don't drink!

Don't have sex!

Conformity of the masses.

Alas, drugs have found their calling

reinforcing the dangers of mediocre health.

The elderly, the allergic and the obese

the targets of our less than perfect population.

Do you ever wonder why it is

we never look good enough?

Feel like we're always sick?

Never have enough money?

Because that's what they have told us

And we listened.
