Letters Across Oceans
A Gentle Poem About Love, Distance, and Words That Travel Farther Than We Do

Across the oceans, I send you letters,
Little pieces of my heart folded into paper,
Carried by waves of hope that maybe,
One day, you will hold them gently in your hands.
I imagine the journey they make to reach you—
Through quiet mornings, through distant winds,
Through skies that stretch wider than our dreams.
Every letter begins with your name,
Written softly, like a whisper only you can hear.
I write about the days that feel too long,
About nights where the moon seems to speak your thoughts,
About moments when your memory arrives
Like a warm breeze touching my face.
I write slowly, carefully,
Letting each word find its place,
Because these letters must travel far,
Across waters that keep our worlds apart.
But distance cannot silence feelings
That move like tides—steady, patient, true.
Sometimes I wonder if you read them
On quiet afternoons by the sea,
Or under the soft glow of evening light,
Where the world feels small and gentle.
Do you smile at my words?
Do you pause at the lines that hold my longing?
Do you feel me reaching for you
Even from miles away?
The ocean between us is wide,
But my letters carry bridges made of hope.
They bring the sound of my thoughts,
The color of my dreams,
And the softness of moments
I wish I could share with you in person.
I imagine your reply traveling back to me,
Crossing waves that sparkle under the sun,
Bringing your voice in ink and paper,
Telling me your days, your thoughts,
And the quiet parts of your heart
You trust only to the sea and me.
Distance may separate our footsteps,
But it cannot stop words
That know how to travel farther
Than we ever could.
Letters become our meeting place,
Where hearts stay close
Even when our worlds stand far apart.
So I keep writing,
Letting the ocean carry my hope,
Sending pieces of myself
To wherever you are.
And until the day we stand
On the same shore again,
My letters will keep crossing waves—
Searching for you,
Reaching for you,
Loving you gently
Across the endless blue.
