Dear You-All-Know-Who,

Listen to this text:

I am Generation X.

The one you never knew,

and then you came next.

Are you a Millennial?

A Generation Y troll?

They ask what you will grow up to be

(insert heavy eye-roll).

I do not understand

your popular Instagram,

your Tiktokked self

creating dummy wealth.

Some are on a plan

with their OnlyFans

(only men? only one?

now that would be fun).

I stick with a Tweet,

(Elon's special beast)

and some FB time

(easier with this rhyme).

But I do wonder again

what is the better plan:

to promote, sell and try;

to push strangers to buy

what they don't ever need

(face wraps of seaweed;

ramen-soup challenges;

oversized sandwiches;

other things I cannot afford,

and I get bored...

et cetera).

Never really heard of ya.

But I have a niece,

a nephew, too.

Would they work out

like the rest of you?

Enjoy it as you can

(and take what you can stand).

I will keep it in mind

as I see and you find

that you have done your duty.

So sincerely...

From yours truly,

ME!

He knew of what he spoke (do you?).

    very well said

  • You knocked this one out of the park! Well done!

  • Once again, a perfect delight. I'm glad I'm not the only one who shakes their head & wonders how that's a thing. (Although, I have to admit that I really like Charlotte Dobre & several of the scam baiters out there.) Thanks again.

    Rilke at the end was the perfect addition. From Generation Jones, a generation no one's really ever heard of (the Boomers made sure of that) I can at least try to assure folks nervously watching the almost equally loud Zers that it'll probably work out more-or-less okay. Just like happened to us and you Xers we get the dystopia we least expected but (almost) everyone learns to survive. It helps if you're forgetful...

    Love this! Tell ‘em Kendall! Generation Y troll and Elon’s special beast were my favorite lines.
