Dear person that I have become,
Brutal sometimes, angry shadows to some.
I wanted to tell you because many will not,
That you’re fighting against an invisible plot.
It’s made you appear to be someone you’re not,
A person who’s fought a war all for naught.
You’re giving and taking from life’s cornucopia,
Is as fleeing as watercolor’s fake paintings of utopia.
The message I’ve penned in this letter to you,
Depicting a life of battles, but now you must be shrewd.
Don’t give in to flaunted words that draw some in,
But stand taller among them each time you begin.
Resist a desire to strike back at angry words shouted,
But garner all that is within you to reject what’s spouted.
Live your life forthright, a vision of what’s in your heart,
Rejecting all that’s offered by those tearing you apart.
Once the lesson being taught has been learned,
This is the time to act on truth that you’ve discerned.
Then, when instructed, leave them where you found them,
In their ruts and their shadows and in their own problems.
As I close this personal letter, let me repeat a warning,
Be who you are and let the hornets keep swarming.
No matter what you say or do or appear to be,
It will never be enough for those submersed in calamity.
Leave them in their dismantled world,
Filled with misconception, fear, and truth unfurled.
It is far better to leave them where they are,
In bitterness, anguish, and their own unquenchable fire.
Warmest Regards,
Your inner self fending off shards.
