Let me Stay in Your Shade
A Poem of Quiet Love, Surrender, and Devotion

It would be your kindness, your gentle grace,
If you let me speak, just give me that space.
My heart desires to say it true—
I’ve fallen deeply in love with you.
So let me live, if that’s okay,
In the shade of your lashes, day by day.
You taught me laughter, gave me light,
Turned my sorrow into bright.
If ever you say, I’ll cry with ease,
No questions asked, no need to please.
But don’t be sad for tears I show,
If they must fall, then let them flow.
I’ve fallen deeply in love with you,
So let me stay in your shadowed view.
It would be your kindness, soft and pure,
To let me feel this love so sure.
You may break me, you may create,
I’ll love you still, accept my fate.
Even if I no longer breathe,
My prayers for you will never leave.
Even my ashes will softly say,
Let me bear this love, come what may.
I’ve fallen deeply in love with you,
So let me stay in your lashes’ dew.
