Left me in the rain

A poem of loss and letting go

By Astone ZuluPublished 11 months ago 1 min read
I created the canva wondering why they left us standing?

You left me in the rain that night,

No words, no glance, no last goodbye.

Just footprints fading in the mist,

A love undone, a ghostly twist.

Where you wouldn't, the heavens cried.

Each drop a wound, a love forgot.

I reached for echoes, found the cold,

A story ended, left untold.

Where you had spoken, thunder roared.

Lightning flashed, my heart still broke.

Your name is still sung in vain by the wind.

A quiet ache, a haunting stain.

I stood there, drenched in memories old,

Shivering not from rain, but from the cold.

Your warmth had vanished, lost to time,

Yet still, your shadow clings to mine.

Was I a moment, just a phase?

A fleeting spark, a passing haze?

Or did you hesitate, look aside,

Too scared to love, too lost to stay?

Now through the storm, I walk alone,

A heart once yours, now turned to stone.

And though the sky still hides its pain,

I’ve learned to dance beneath the rain.

I don't know what you are going through or went through but there are times when we lose one person we thought will be our forever. Now we miss their laughter and smiles. And ask ourselves questions why they left, or did we mean anything to them?
