Leaning Forward

A poem about yearning for the next thing

The world tilts forward —

or is that me? Leaning,

searching, desperate for

the next thing, even if I

don’t know what it is yet.

Too eager for the world

to turn a corner, to push

the curtain aside and

show me all the tricks

up its sleeves.

I’m leaning forward,

looking for the secrets.

Too eager to reach the

finish line. Forgetting the

process is the whole point.
