Lawn Mower

I put

a single

blade

of grass

out of place

and knocked the earth

off of it's orbit.

as if making a divot

swinging for the fairway

I forgot that it's supposed to

only revolve around you

and your need

to keep things green

and free of weeds

a losing race from the start

perfection can't grow

from a rotten heart.

I'm just out here

wanting to play ball

while you mow me down

with a "get off my lawn"

if you cared half as much

about us

as your precious grass

then maybe your reflection

wouldn't mirror

a jackass.
