War made for odd couples. To Private Jim Mclellan, Sepp seemed a good man; better at least than some of the monsters he heard stories of deeper into the Reich. Real monsters. This Sepp almost reminded Jim of his uncle; the one from Wisconsin he met a few times at Weddings.

A Dart at Dusk
Seconds ago, the sullen sun set on the two of us… my exuberant furry companion and me. A fresh breeze embraces us, delivering welcome relief from the day’s oppressive heat. His typical stumbling and staggering along — apace with a sloth — has turned into trip-trapping, high-stepping, almost skipping along.

hahaha. That last line is amazing. I was thinking...aw Matthew's being so poetic and positive...then. BAM. Also, lavender was in my head because I read this title and then used Lavender Flow as the title to mine. As you rightly pointed out lol. Will add a author's note giving this a shout-out.
