Inhale

Inhale

and the first shift

of warm rested muscles

of the human body

as one emerges

back into reality

flicker of light

blast through

long lashes

and cracked lids

exposed midnight colored eyes.

screams of sun

yells, "good morning"

as the flop of blankets

over my head

rescues me from

another day

slumber remains

in my old bones

the warmth

of the sun

streamed across

the bed

to warm my feet

tired they have been

cold and wet

A sigh

deep release

from my muscles

to my soul

I surrender

to the rest

I accept

I can't stay

in bed all day

Just this moment

I can't

get this time

back

once I leave it

so, surrender

to what is

my now

and celebrate

a new day

but not now

a deep inhale

slow sleepy sigh
