Late night longings

Poem

By Gregory Published 5 years ago 1 min read

Late night longings…

The moon is high and so am I,

your memory makes it so.

The night is heavy with your scent ,

why did you have to go.

Sun roof open beneath the stars ,

Dave Matthews fills the air.

The wind animates the night,

and on my face dances your hair.

Just you and me enjoying time,

your smile dispels my fears.

I’ve never dreaded daylight more ,

and you have me cursing years .

The years that came unbeckoned ,

the ones I couldn’t arrange.

The ones I always dreaded ,

the ones that brought the change .

Time and circumstance conspired,

and into their plan we fell .

My love for you is still as strong ,

but you’re not here to tell .

So on this night of a full moon,

I feel both cold and heat.

Your absence makes it bitter,

but your memory makes it sweet.

Where you’re at or who you’re with,

I never want to know .

I loved you then as I do now,

but I know you had to go .

heartbreak

About the Creator

Gregory

I don't so much want to write as I feel constrained to write. It's just an extension of what I was born to do among other things. It's just now the other things have passed, and it's time for writing.
