Late Arrival & Early Departure

Too much too late … too little so soon

By life.evolve.herPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Dear Love,

She’ll visit you tomorrow

Spur of the moment

Incantation of the heart

She packs lightly – the less the soul carries, the more likely it is to survive -

Oh, Love

She’ll call tomorrow when she arrives

Early in the day before the moon seduces the sun to play -

Passion

The next day might be cold -

Don’t worry, Love

She comes donning the armor of Spartan troops expecting the worst of battles

You’ll need more than a late night rain to distort her vision this time -

Yes, Love

She knows the ride is long

Sometimes idle time aids the heart in creating figments of passionate commitment –

Never mind, Love

She’ll piece together the remains of a past while she waits - a tedious, burdensome job

She often continues never realizing fleeting moments forever lost in the insignificant delusion of love –

Finally, Love

She is here, possibly she might have missed you since last you spent time

Such words, though, she will not share with you

To break the impenetrable barriers of her lips –

No, Love

Once wet with passion

Now chapped with disappointment

You may rest beside her

For her sake, not for yours

After all, isn’t it commonplace to take one last look, one last dip before leaving -

Yes, Love

She’ll say farewell -

So long, Love

Making love again is not even an option proposed

Experience whispered it may have happened, before, possibly once

Torment and frustration have since fixed that

Cleared her judgment

When the end of her visit draws near

I’ll come get her

Please don’t weigh her down with extras for the return

If so, such extras will be left

At the side of life’s grotty, cobblestone roads

The traveler is weak –

Sign here, Love

About the Creator

life.evolve.her

Today, I devour easily the words of song and sorrow.

Tomorrow, I purge on its beautifully raw and unabashed strength to cut or to cure.

Words are the altar of hope at which I worship and the articulation of a loneliness I long to exorcise.
