My darling Jane,

To my last waking breath, to my last pumping, palpable heartbeat, I beseech you to respond. My heart aches and pains for you. Ever since that day we parted, due to my mad and dark ward upstairs, my dark raven, the severing cause that tears you from me, I’ve known nothing but agony.

I try so hard to comfort this mad raven yet nothing calms them. I try to go and have peace, and I am stuck back where I started.

You my dearest friend and my true love, where are you?

I’ve penned numerous chapters of my love and dreams of you and us and I’ve seen glimpses of it in your art, yet I feel my latest letters through the post have been left unanswered. I believe that you did not do this on purpose, I know you are kind and caring.

If I could reach you in your little school house with that preacher and his sisters I would, alas, I cannot.

I hope that he is treating you well. I hope that he is treating you better. I heard he is very unfeeling.

I miss you so much Jane.

I love you like you have no idea.

Please respond.

Love, Edward Rochester.
