The last summer day I spent as a kid,

slipped away lazy and almost carefree.

Endless bike rides caused skin to be sun-kissed;

meeting the boys up at Foo’s for icecream.

Afternoons spent at pools to swim, not tan;

shy butterflies invading me like it was spring,

the first time he reached out to hold my hand-

blooming rosy cheeks from feelings it brings.

Devouring subs from a local shop,

mix cd’s filled with all the shitty bands,

eating the carbs without a second thought,

dreaming and imagining future plans...

The last summer day I spent as a kid,

first day I saw him for more than a friend.
