Last Stand of Pursuit
Everyone has something they pursue in life. This is a message to those who'd like to reflect on the meaning of pursuit.
Everyone wakes up, aiming for something to pursue with their time. A drive that keeps us motivated to improve and realise what we hope to achieve. An achievement that will satisfy our hunger that shall cure us from negative emotions or promote positive ones. We keep trying to fulfil that pursuit, but when we achieve it or worst case, it fails, we look for a new one to replace that hunger within us.
What we pursue does not matter; it’s the reason and mindset that is hiding behind the pursuit that matters. What we pursue during our time here defines us as humans and builds us brick by brick into what we aspire to be. It’s a never-ending cycle that continues to give birth to a different person. The question we face many times is whether what we pursue may ever lead to the answer? Will that ever-growing hunger within us ever be satisfied? Well, it may not satisfy it, but it will leave a great impression on you that has the potential to blossom.
The reason behind one’s pursuit is personal, unknown, extraordinary, and that will never be understood by others, but only by oneself. Most of someone’s pursuit is built on fear that pushes them to continue spinning the wheel to be better. What fear, you might ask? Well, it’s the fear of never insecurities or loneliness in a world that seems to get gloomy at times. Some are driven by a purpose ignited in their souls to fight for what they want to achieve. It could come in the form of validation? wealth? or power? However, there are souls that pursue because of love, something that will lead them to sacrifice for those around them so that their loved ones may rest while they carry a burden.
The majority seek the pursuit of external things that could be displayed around us. However, there are those of us who are low profile and have internal pursuits. Unlike visible rewards of wealth or status, internal ones don’t earn you those praises. Whereas the external loses meaning and is temporary, the internal often roots itself within our souls and deeper with time. One blinds the audience for a moment, the other keeps you warm for a lifetime.
Why do you even keep wanting more? For many of us, it keeps us from being stale, it gives us a purpose instead of being idle. However, can we be content or satisfied without chasing or striving for more? Well then, that’s a whole other understanding of one’s mentality and if they can be at peace with that thought of being satisfied. Many also question if ambition is good, but it can be subjective to others, as it depends on who benefits from that ambition. However, that ambition may be a form of deception that blinds us from what we should pursue instead. Will a pursuit build us or break us? Well, ask yourself deep down why you pursue…
Imagine this: every pursuit is a new step we walk into, uncovering who we truly are as if it’s a reflection of ourselves in a mirror. It first starts off as a blur covered by steam, but as you progress through your journey, it slowly uncovers like using a towel to wipe the confusion away.
The mirror can come in any shape and size; it is never the same for each person, just like our pursuits. Besides that, the angle at which we see ourselves is also different from that of outsiders. So the question changes from “What do I want?” to “Why do I want it?” and it’s in that quiet moment of honesty that we begin to see ourselves not as the person who runs, but as the one who finally pauses... and understands.
Remember, no matter where your journey takes you. It is yours, and never let anyone else tell you otherwise. In your journey, don’t lose yourself but find what you should truly become! Now…Go out there! Make your own purpose in life!
