Last Night

I Prayed For My Children

Last Night, I Prayed for My Children

Normally when I Pray it's for Peace of Mind or Clarity,

But last night, as I watched them sleep,

The realization came to me that I cannot always be there to protect them,

And though the safest place to be for them is with at home in my bed,

This quiet sense of security is temporary and the morning will come.

So I called my sons, and as I hugged them, I prayed for them.

I called my daughters, and I kissed them, and I whispered the Lord's prayer over them.

I Prayed for my children, because prayer changes things.

I Prayed for their peace of mine, their safety, and their physical well being,

Because I am just a woman, just a human, that cannot see things unseen or hear things unheard that creep in dark hallways out of my control.

So, I Prayed for My Children.
