Lakeside Summertime

A Poem About Camp

By Jared W.E.Published 3 years ago 1 min read
The roof of our art shop, the best spot to relax at camp.

Lakeside summertime

Humble beginnings full of guilt

The people I love and the land we live

May soon begin to wilt

Lakeside break time

Coffee and condensation

Coworkers and friends

Making lakeside conversation

Lakeside leaf fall

A hundred years of this joy

It was rumpus and ruin

That this community grew in

For fire cannot destroy a soul

Lakeside snowplow

Innovation of a jokester

Playing around with his tools

Bring us together, me and my sister

In the cold grave of our home

Lakeside spring fling

The love I lost again

Nothing can destroy this

The love of the masses

The tender draining of her kiss

Lakeside at summer’s end

The beating warmth from the sun

Undercut by the cold autumn air

It never seems quite fair

The time we spent there

Only lasts ‘till we’ve finally relaxed
