Lady Scalliwag

The She Pirate

By Earl W. PearlPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

I spied her through my looking glass

We set our sails and chased the lass

Her vessel of a higher class

She beat us to Gin Rummy’s Pass

I’m Captain Hank from Codger Bay

This fetching damsel slipped away

But we shall meet again some day

And when we do, then come what may

A navy schooner comes about

“It’s Captain Hank we want,” they shout

“To save yourselves, send out the lout”

My scurvy crew, they sold me out

With braided cord around my feet

Was led away to Admiral Pete

Just then another pirate cheat

Invaded us with guns replete

Swashbuckling pirates poured aboard

And there’s the lass from yonder fjord

She winked at me and cut my cord

‘Twas her who led this mangy horde

“Ahoy,” she greets with courage vast

“You gave me chase but didn’t last

Gave up pursuit a bit too fast

Perhaps you need a bigger mast”

I bowed and said, “I’m Captain Hank

They brought me here to walk the plank

For all the rum we stole and drank

Tho now it seems I’ve ye to thank”

She said, “You Bucs will sail with me”

Then set the Admiral’s navy free

I told the Admiral, “Best ye flee

She’s far a better man than thee”
