You were quick growing emerald green
With all the looks of a lovely thing
But your roots were poison
Stretching 10 feet deep
-
Tendrils weaving,
Clinging, clutching,
Never allowing any flora
To flourish where you’re touching
-
structural parasite
You’re no stranger to decay
You feast upon the helpless plants
That end up in your way
-
partnered with putrescence
Helping you grow in the poor dark places
You smother everything that grows
Only pruned back by physical severations
-
You only know how to grow over others
So you will never bloom
Taking is your forte
You’re built to use and to consume
-
Emerald Green, unlovely thing
With twisted mind and deceitful mouth
Semi-woody herbage
Consumes the beauty of the south

Kudzu grows so fast! Kudzu is amazing! Great poem
Love this illustration of an invasive plant and how it compares to someone who just takes advantage of you. Beautifully written!
