Photograph of Konik horses--wild horses--grazing by the River Waal in the Netherlands
The horses grazed, a herd of family, friends,
There in the grassy meadow graced with flowers.
The sunset sky stretched oe’r the riverbend
Where one could stay--if not forever--hours.
But time flies faster than the horses run
And is more fluid than the river flow
Each moment, there and gone, burns like the sun;
It burns as quickly as a matchstick, though.
But let’s think of the horses once again,
The horses and the flowers, both so wild
By rocky shores of sweeping riverbend
Where river flows, so beautiful and mild
The wild things have the freedom just to be;
What if we let ourselves be just as free?
