kingdom -
the one who lies
upon the mountain top.
the one conquered
by rivers of blood
crossed by aching legs
and drooping eyes.
the kingdom
that always burns
where no ashes fall
and only smoke rises.
the captured land
with an empty chest
pulsing with anger
and indignation.
the faraway place
of ladders
that lead to more
ladders.
some say heaven
lies beyond
the white sky
some disagree.
there is no knowledge
only speculation
there is freedom
and bondage - tied.
the throne
has been abdicated,
the royal courtyards
grow weeds.
all good things
are wild and free
and this kingdom -
it has a queen
