Brave.
Because even when it's small, it can part dark storm clouds.
Kindness is...
A shooting star
Because it's a thing to make a wish on when you spot it.
Kindness is...
Priceless!
Like that ice cream you paid for when I fell.
Kindness is...
The best part of my day,
Since it shows that you see me.
Kindness is...
A sign to keep going
Even when your mind tells you not to.
Kindness is...
Belief in yourself;
A reminder of the people in your corner.
Kindness is...
Memorable. It makes flowers bloom and birds fly
But leaves a huge gap when it's not there.
Kindness is...
A risk to take
Because it shows someone that they're not alone.
Kindness is...
The thing that makes my heart sing!
Like that playlist you made for me on Spotify.
Kindness is...
A huge, warm hug
My grandma's favourite song
Folding the washing
A funny card
Nice words
Helping with dinner
Small smiles
Sharing laughter
A midnight snack
Understanding and feeling.
Kindness is...
Human, in its every form.
It is tangible
Yet it can be a feeling you feel from the very inside.
It can be hard to take the step.
But kindness is worth it.
The difference is worth it.
Kindness is...
The sun always rising
And the moon always shining.
It is the birds that visit for snacks
And the bandaids on my knees.
It's dad carrying my schoolbag,
My dog licking my tears
It connects how we feel with how we act.
It is bolder than anything we could ever do.
It is dignity, respect, compassion.
Justice,
Equity
A human right.
It is the sharing of food
The donating of coin
A strong pull toward opportunities
To expand on your dreams.
It is self-talk with that gleam in your eye
Where "you've got this", outspoken
Hangs in the air.
It is the key to all the shackles
The unstitching and healing of all the wounds.
It is the forgiving of grudges
And the hugging of lost friends.
It is the understanding of people
The pendulum that swings
It is the quiet thought of "I miss you"
And the letter I finally sent.
Kindness is an unspoken bond
A pact made in blood
For no reason, unconditionally
It is the thing at which
We are both bad and good.
From the revealing of burdens
And the shouting of feelings
Comes the kindness of the soul.
The bravery it takes
Should not be underestimated
Since kindness is powerful
And takes time to be found.

No, out loud.
I will be kind.
Think of no one.

Think of that one person.
I will be kind.
Yourself, right ahead of you.

The things carried with you
I will be kind.
Regardless and because

It is a mantra now, strike the match.
I will be kind.
No more words - now actions.
The hardest part.
Be kind.

The line of kindness being to believe in yourself is, I think, a key element from which kindness is born. To be kind to others first you must be kind to yourself.
Sometimes we forget just how powerful and the difference it makes being kind is. This was a wonderful reminder.
