Killer

Summer Heat

By Mother CombsPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

The summer heat is a killer

It’ll wick all the moisture away

Leaving a dried-out husk behind

You’ll dehydrate like beef jerky

Shrivel up like a sour grape

Cause one to wilt down like a flower

Sweat will dry up like a pond

The summer heat is a murderer

Turning the green grass brown

Leaving nothing but dust in its path

Causing mirages to shimmer in the distance

The locust and cicadas come out and

eat what the heat does not wipe away

It’ll make the air you breath feel like a furnace blast.

Yeah, we need to cool down, but power company profits are more important to governments. Excellent words

It's been killing us here. Well done. Love the image, too.

Yes. Summer heat is a killer indeed. Well done.

  • Nature is indeed indiscriminate and not always kind! Don't get in its way! Nice poem!

Amazing piece! With the heat we had, although not high to most people, it's true.

Love this poem. We just went through a heat wave where I live and this is pretty much exactly how it felt, though I could never put it this eloquently.
