Kids Learned of Heart health
By simple home experiment

I am a bio-researcher,
a gardening lover,
and now a mother,
so I use my learnings,
for better parenting,
let me show you one.
From the spring backyard,
we picked shriveled,
violet gladiolus flowers,
and dried in the air,
for experiment later.
We set out to learn,
got a bowl of hot water,
kids put the dry petals,
and stirred, to see blue.
Then they squeezed,
drops of lemon juice,
and magic happened,
blue turned to pink!
I explained:
Low pH of lemon juice
changed the pigment structures.
Blue anthocyanin pigment
turned protonated,
reflected sunlight different.
Something similar biochemistry,
happens in our body.
Lots of metabolites in blood
are pH-sensitive,
including the proteins.
As we expose ourselves,
to endless chemicals,
by mouth, nose, skin,
they act as lemon juice,
changing the protein integrity.
Blood becomes thick,
just like milk turning to curd,
hard for the heart to pump.
Heart is made to pump,
blood of milky consistency,
with efficiency,
certainly not curd.
So I repeat,
minimize exposure to chemicals,
through all portals,
save your vitals.
Don’t curdle blood,
don’t curdle blood,
don’t curdle blood.
Be kind to your heart,
Don’t let mistakes prove fatal.

This was such a great way to teach your kids about pH and what chemicals do to it. Loved your poem!
This is a great learning experience for your kids
