We were taught in our history class,
About a man who had a dream.
A dream so powerful,
A dream so powerful that America couldn't handle it.
So, they murder him.
We were taught in our history class,
About a boy who whistled at a white women,
Because he didn't know how different the North & the South were.
So, they murder him.
What we don't learn in our history class,
Are the ones who get murdered and have no justice.
About the man who couldn't enter his home without being shot for holding his phone,
About the boy who couldn't hold a toy gun without being shot,
About the man who was shot 12 times for being unarmed and black.
They do not want us to learn,
About the murders of hundreds, thousands.
Millions, of people who only wanted to live in their home.
The home that was taken from them by force,
The home that they now can't explore because they're stuck on an endless cycle of fear.
Or worse, 6 feet under.
These people, we don't learn in our textbooks.
These people we can't forget.
We can't forget,
Dr. King,
Emmitt Till,
Trayvon Martin,
Stephon Clark,
Tamir Rice,
Michael Brown,
Freddie Gray,
Eric Gardner,
Samuel DuBose.
We can't forget any of them,
Because if we forget,
There will be no justice.
We must fight,
For us,
For them,
For their lives,
That were lost by a gun.
They say these were murders but I believe it was genocide.
They beat us,
They send us away,
The enslave us,
They kill us.
They don't want us here,
Because if they did
Our best friend wouldn't be a gun.
