Just wait

Always waiting for that one message

By Mel WrightPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Staring at your screen, hoping for anyone online,

Sometimes, it's okay to say you are not fine.

You think, hiding behind the code on the screen,

all your friends are just waiting to be seen,

but that is never the case, you wait and wait,

you stay up until it's very late.

Message after message, not being read,

you get up from your desk and lay in bed.

"Tomorrow, someone will message me", you say

as you try to succumb to sleep, with tears in the way.

There is an empty hole that you can feel growing,

for them to message, you have to stop it from showing.

Seeing people, always on social media,

typing every word from the encyclopedia.

You wonder, why no one messages me

if only people would see.

Message after message is being sent

you would think at least one person meant

to write back, even to say "hello"

but no one does, so let the tears flow.
