Can places become strangers?

When I'm back in your city

and you don't even call

I don't get sad anymore.

Because really,

it's forcing me to love myself.

And it hurts like finishing a good book,

kind of bittersweet.

And when I'm back in your city

I walk by our favorite restaurant,

And I smile.

The lights are warm and bright,

the cold of the morning clouding up the windows.

So many conversations happening in there,

maybe even some important ones.

All going on simultaneously, in one space.

That used to be our space.

I'm glad it isn't,

anymore.
