Just As

We failed Humanity.

Just as the world tilts forward,

Humanity is set to fall.

We failed to look behind the smoke,

to see the mirror.

We failed to hear the prophet’s call.

**

Just as the dark clouds gather,

Black water begins to rise.

We drown in oceans of filth,

Disguised by the tides.

**

Just as the perverse sustain corruption,

Valleys fill with immortal destruction,

Poison runs through the veins of the vermin.

They laugh, as they feast on endless pollution.

**

Just as the past haemorrhages the future,

Promise suffocates wisdom.

Ensuring prolonged sufferance,

As we choke down a putrid system.

**

Justice has failed,

Defeated. Defective.

Just as the human race.

Corrupted. Deceptive.

About the Creator

Jollyoddbod Poetry

Here I am, and here I'll stay;

Like the moon in the darkness that refuses to fade.

Clouds will cover, but cannot take from my reign;

Mark this as the moment that they realise, as they scoff with distain.

They fell asleep, I cannot be blamed.

    I'm a forever optimist, which is ironic because dark pieces like this feel right at home. Outstanding poetry with a definite message

    This was so dark, urgent, and unforgettable. 👏
