Just a telephone call during the mundane,
A precious and familiar voice answers hello,
One that can be relied upon,
When there’s news that needs to be told.
**
So many times there’s been a sob in my voice,
Tears falling upon my face,
And yet you listen,
You encourage,
Without judgement.
**
A familiar voice in the distance.
**
For once the news was great,
Bursting to be imparted,
And I could hear your smile as you listened.
**
Just a telephone call in the silence,
A connection spanning the miles,
A smile, a whisper of advice,
Never too much, nor too little,
A perfect Goldilocks outcome of love.
**
A special gift of a hand held,
Distance no obstacle,
Selflessly available,
To laugh, to cry, to silence,
Exactly as I may ever need.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

"A perfect Goldilocks outcome of love". That line was favourite! Loved your poem my friend!
As AT&T used to say, "Reach out & touch someone." It may make all the difference.
