Judgement Day

“Judgement Day” by Cardana Green is a raw and haunting poem about greed, suffering, and the darkness in every human heart. Through vivid imagery and echoes of faith, it explores the weight of sin, the reality of suffering, and a final plea for forgiveness.

Judgement Day

By Cardana Green

In the midst of life,

there is death.

The rich harm the poor,

as people always did before.

Rape. Torture. Burning alive.

Judgement Day has just arrived.

If money is the root of all evil,

then let me be evil too.

Let me take what I deserve,

grow wealthy,

and revel in my greed.

The weeping terror within—

lungs filled with smoke,

stomachs twisted in sickness,

metal rust burning my nostrils.

If in every man’s heart lives a devil,

then mine is awake,

roused from its cold slumber.

Children cannot sleep,

afraid of waking in hell.

Adults shiver awake,

drenched in sweat,

haunted by the stench of burning flesh.

Lord, forgive them,

for they do not know

what they have done.
