Joy of Harvests

From parent's backyard

My parents were never rich,

living in humble home,

in rural India,

but they had a backyard,

full of plants,

that knew giving,

we could pick things,

to eat and to share.

It wasn’t just about,

saving money on foods,

but about eating safe,

organic produce,

and the joy of giving!

Even the cattle

ate buckets of ripe guavas.

My childhood was filled

with the abundance of fruits,

gratitude of harvest.

Years later,

when I visited home,

with my kids,

they savored the same joy,

as they picked

fruits, and vegetables,

and laid them out,

on banana leaves.

Every day,

a different cornucopia!

Not all riches,

are materials or money,

but it's the power of

achieving sustainability,

a feeling,

sweeter than honey.
