A Short Poem

By Rika LekayPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Necklaces...

Bracelets...

Earrings...

Rings...

These four horsemen,

Serve a purpose.

Their mission,

To make women look like art,

To make women appear rich,

To make women so...

Feminine.

But then there's the public eye,

Trying to reform women,

In their image.

Trying to reform,

People like me.

The society that we all live in,

Is a society I hate.

I don't want to be forced into being some doll!

I don't want to live a fake life!

I'm not some slut from off the streets!

I...

I just want to be who I am...

I don't want to be backed into a corner,

Forced to please the public eye.

Maybe I don't want to be feminine,

Maybe I don't want to wear tacky items,

Broadcasting my wealth on my body,

For the world to see?

That's not who I am.

The real me is here,

Silent as always by day,

Staying hidden away,

Only to come out to play,

Behind the screen.
