Jealous of the Night

Poetry of love remembered

So jealous of the way the mountains kiss the sky

As the memories of your sweet lips intrude

The orange blush of the sun for the sea makes me sigh

And takes me back to the moment I met you

So anxious for the day when we’ll meet again

When lady Serendipity grants us her favor

I promise this time to hold on through the rough terrain

Even as the winds of adversity make us waver

So jealous of the night as it watches you sleep

An addictive pastime in my recollection

But more jealous of the morning, so jealous I could weep

Of seeing my love in your awakening eyes reflection

So anxious for the day when we’ll meet again

When lady Serendipity grants us her favor

I promise this time to hold on through the rough terrain

Even as the winds of adversity make us waver

I yearn for the return of the time that we shared

Because without you my world has come undone

But until then know that my heart is caged and ensnared

Because I know in my heart you’re the one.
