shadows
I walk in the shadows
Noone knows my name, it's better that way,
I walk in the shadows of a moonless night,
I shun the people,
Running this way and that way.
My thoughts are my own,
I let no one into the darkness I feel
I let myself care, a mistake I now own,
He wasn't cruel or even unkind,
He just let me know it was time to go.
So, I walk now in shadows that mirror my soul,
Darkness without reflects the darkness within.
Pulling my coat tightly around a shield from the rain,
And maybe the pain.
'It will not last forever' or so I was told,
Still, often the darkness is my only friend.
