It was a joyful night,
not because the food was delicious,
even though it was.
It was a joyful night,
not because the evening was peaceful on the patio,
even though it was.
It was a joyful night,
not because I had amazing conversation,
even though it was good talking with my sweet daughter who’s growing too fast.
It was a joyful night…
because I saw you,
because you were our waitress,
because you smiled,
because you looked stunning,
because you were so kind,
because you’re a gem,
because you’re just…incredible.
I hoped you’d be there,
and you were.
Your presence made me smile,
and I’ve not been like this in awhile.
Now, I lay here,
wishing I could go back,
to the restaurant where you serve.
