It's Raining, It's Snowing

The old man is snoring

Author's Note: It really is snowing out there right now. It is the time of year when we aren't sure what we will see. Almost all of our snow on the fields was gone. We are thinking of spring, when it snows.

The title is similar to what we would sing when it was raining when I was growing up. The correct words are, "It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring." Based on a story from many years ago about an old man who bumps his head and can't get up in the morning.

Is it snowing again

I had pulled out the wagon

It was just 50+ degrees

There are birds and bees

starting to come out

I just want to shout

Cut it out, time for spring

time for flowers and time to sing

the happy songs of the season

singing just cause, without a reason

~~

I was reminded of hubby snoring

He hasn't always, but lately, when sleeping

He is snoring loudly, and woke me

I told him, let me sleep, and we

can investigate your snoring; it may be

sleep apnea, and you will need a machine

to sleep with at night. The joys of aging

He didn't want to hear that. He wasn't raging,

just unhappy and blaming aging. I can't argue

He is seventy-six. Another reason to be blue.

~~

His birthday was on March 1st, and we had a gathering

He wanted no party, so we didn't have a party thing

We had another event with friends, and now a DQ get-together

with his sister and cousins, and it may depend on the weather

See where I can go with one little silly song I learned a long

time ago. Well, it did start with the snowing, and the song

the rhyme, and the snoring, and the rain that we should be

getting, instead of the snow. Oh boy, see how that goes. We

need to stop and let it be, or where else will it take me.

No, oh gee, we shall end this and not take me anywhere else, see!

Lovely, Denise. I remember that rhyme really well from when I was younger. I had a CPAP machine for almost ten years due to sleep apnea. When I got separated, I stopped using it. I don't know whether I still snore or not; the girls (my little dogs) never complain. 😉😉

I hope your husband sees a doctor for sleep apnea, Denise. It can be pretty scary!

My spouse has been snoring since late 30s. Now in early 40s. Not fun.
