It's Quiet Uptown

A Poem

If you see me in the street walking by myself,

do not pity me.

I have made a name for myself beyond the pain that has plagued my life,

made the scars into works of art,

tears into symphonies that fill the void that my words fail to fit in,

and carry each like a badge of honor of wars beyond the physical form.

My heart may be broken in ways that cannot be fully mended,

but with every piece replaced marks a new chapter I plan to explore.

I can breathe alone again,

I can smile without fear it'll be fleeting,

I am no longer filled with fear I am going to drown,

and it's quiet uptown.
