It’s Just a Building

It’s just a building,

but I don’t want to go there.

It’s just a building,

but does corruption and darkness linger?

It’s the right thing to do,

to pay my respects to the family.

All the emotions of a past life swirl in misconfiguration and sadness.

Will there be faces of judgement and distaste?

They make the scars of my soul itch.

Stomach is unsettled and anxiety does some somersaults mockingly.

Is it over?

The air is stuffy and it sucks the air out of my hungry lungs.

A funeral in a church building.

I pray for the family to feel the comfort of the Holy Spirit during their time of loss.

It wasn’t as awkward as I had expected.

Sincerity seemed to welcome from words spoken and hugs given.

Soul scars can be a little scratchy. A beautiful and true image.

A building always means more than it seems.
