It's 2025 and Caste is Still Big Deal in India

I see the ways of the world,

and stories brewing around us.

Good life philosophy is important,

but equally necessary is not to cross paths,

with the wrong people.

The world is getting more chaotic,

and as stress levels rise, violence is increasing too.

Just today, I read the news,

about a tragic love-story in India,

a techie was hacked to death

for relationship with girl from other caste.

I shuddered reading it, it felt familiar,

because I was not exactly treated well,

when I married a boy from other community.

It's ridiculous that in the same country

people commit such violent acts,

movies on such topics turn superhits.

Why is there such a dichotomy in beliefs?

The human psyche can be dark,

and society’s rules are flawed,

steeped in patriarchy, overt misogyny

fear of isolation, loss of dignity,

makes people perpetuate crime,

across space and time,

nothing changes.

Note: Countries are fighting over LGBTQ+ love and rights. India still can’t stand inter-caste marriages.
