It Just Doesn't Fit

I Guess You Must Acquit

isn’t love frivolous

in our exchanging of plans

a business deal of emotions

with intertwining demands

isn't love waggish

with a clever riposte

unaware of the catfish

until you've been ghost -(ed)

isn't love flippant

losing all seriousness

said you did, when you didn't

full of spuriousness

Isn't love glib

dressed it up for a show

a serious comic strip

with a punchline of gold

Isn't love foolish

we wear our hearts on our sleeves

the true, merely blueish

changing what it really means

isn't love giddy

an irresponsible act

just speaking glibly

with promises we take back

but, boy how we crave it

walking on fine lines of glass

like trying to fit

skinny jeans on my ass

it just doesn't work

no matter how hard I try

I twerk and I jerk

but I just can't zip up the fly

so, I'll just enjoy the sweet thought of it all

there is no need to fuss, there is no reason to bawl

afterall what would I write of, if I fell into love

I'd be mimicking OJ, if it fit like a glove

Good job, Kelli. These lines just about sum it up: "a business deal of emotions with intertwining demands"

Great work you have here, but that last line why did you bring OJ into it.
