We were always destined to be friends,
Our likes, our loves, our hates.. All matched.
Apart from one, religion.
Thank you, for “teaching” me,
It's wrong to be me.
You were the one,
Who suffered.
Goodbye,
“Friend”.

Amazing!
This is something amazing! It's never wrong to be oneself, except in those rare occasions when 'oneself' causes harm. And I've never known a person who's truest identity causes harm to anyone, except when people hurt themselves by not accepting the truth about these people. I've never understood it. It's always easier to just accept that which we cannot control. Pretty sure there's even a prayer about it, shame so few people take that message to heart, eh? Brilliant poem, Liam! Simply magnificent!
Ooooo this was salty and I'm all here for it!! Beautiful work Liam!! Also... I'm still mumbling about Anononet... bit of a tongue twister for me today!! 😅
Thank you, for “teaching” me, It's wrong to be me. Wow. Just. Wow. The gut punch those lines delivers is deserving of a placement alone <3
Thank you, for “teaching” me, It's wrong to be me. Gosh those lines hit so hard. It's much better to stay away from these religious people who tell us who to be or what to do
I love this. Carol said everything I was going to say in a smoother way, so I’ll just agree with her. 😉😊
This a very honest truth about some unhealthy relationships. I spent years thinking the same because I was taught that I couldn't be myself. Your poem says it all. It's well written, and very outspoken. I think this is a brilliant, reflective piece.
