Is It Not Love?

Poem

By Paul CrockerPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I can see us together.

Like a limpet on the sea wall.

Like autumn leaves to the ground fall.

I can sense we connect.

Yet you say you regret the endeavour.

Is it not love if I travel long distance?

Why do you put up a resistance?

But if I'm wrong.

I'll stay strong.

I can hear us talking.

Like the birds sing in the morning.

Like the alarm rings without warning.

I can listen all night.

Yet you say I'm not right and start walking.

Is it not love if my heart is my headphone?

I don't want to go to bed alone.

But if I must.

You have my trust.

I can feel us dancing.

Like the flies do at the window.

Like the skies above change airflow.

I can move to your shape.

Yet you say the template is not fit for romancing.

Is it not love if we rotate in unison?

Why deny the obvious fusion?

But if I'm to stand still.

I'll accept the chill.
