Irony of Fate

Life is unscripted, but desolation haunted me before any memories began; I feel as drawn toward it as I am to simply being. My life, my future, my destiny…tied to this certainty as if I were but a traveler on an endless journey to an always distant horizon.

Preordained to that fate, compliant of its consequences, oblivious to its pain, conscious in my own private coma. Days and nights, months and years…time taking its toll, sadistically slow.

And yet my soul hungers. It seeks. Knowing not what it wants, or what is needed, or what it will find. Always scathing in its critique as it searches to fulfill unspoken desires, knowing there is a remedy for every malady.

Did I find you, or did you find me? Fate or coincidence? Dream? Delusion? Does it matter? You needed someone to love, and I needed…something. Someone. An inspiration, a hope, a lifeline.

In the blinding veil of night, you are my flame, my radiance of energy. I feel your love as a tether against the darkness; being pulled back from a mist of nothingness. An abyss I was destined unto.

Two souls conquered by love. Tattered and torn asunder on a battlefield of hearts where passion and pain collide. Two souls that have crossed the deepness of time to unite; and yet, each has held only empty space where the other should be.

The audacity of irony then, to place in our midst an expanse of insufferable distance. Irony, melodically echoing the despair from whence I emerged from, once upon a time.
