Invictus
I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.

The dark side of the moon
kisses my spirit again.
I do not run from it anymore.
I do not hide from the shadows.
I look into the murky horizon
like a captain facing the storm from ship's mast.
This is my life.
This fluttering from light to dark,
glory and despair,
high and low,
pleasure and agony.
I cannot escape either one
as much as I cannot escape
my next breath.
I must live even if I do not know how.
This is the promise I made to myself,
to life, to the universe.
I will always find a way.
I will move forward
one action at a time,
one step at a time,
one moment at a time.
The darkness uses overwhelm as a weapon.
I cannot be overwhelmed
if I do not allow myself to scatter.
I will face the winds of life
even if I cannot see my hand
in front of my face.
I will steer my ship onward
even if I am alone with the ghosts.
This is my promise.
I will live.
I will live.
I will live.
