Into the Dark

I hear music in the air tonight, One familiar fading tune. Something pulls at my infected soul, I think I remember you. The one who took my heart, the one who made me want to save the world. For you, I would give my life, but this sickness has corrupted my soul.

My eyes flicker shut, the world changing before my eyes. I see you, you're the only light in this ever-darkening world. As I fight my demons, you're the angel by my side. Through thick and thin, for you I stride. You give me the strength to face the night, but my soul is too far gone.

I faced not just my inner demons, but the worlds outer demons, just so you wouldn't have to. Yet, a man is not fit to battle spirits, and the battle was lost. My mind's cracks split apart, my throat loosed roars that made wolves shiver. The last of my human essence dissipated into the air, yet a tear still fell. My daughter, you are the only bit that stuck with me as I ran through the dark.
