The road taken

I will never cease to plead
For you to take another way.
Why do you never heed?
Could you not just let me lead?
How could I let you stray?
I will never cease to plead
But my voice has never carried
You've already turned away
Why do you never heed?
Even in dreams I don't succeed
Silent screams fade dead away
Yet I never cease to plead
I can only watch you bleed
And grow cold where you lay
Because you never heed
Never will I be freed
From the reliving of that day
I can never cease to plead
Why did you never heed?

The villanelle structure mirrors the emotional trap perfectly circling, unable to escape that moment.
Congratulations!👏This vividly portrays a parent’s angst.
Wooohooooo congratulations on your honourable mention! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊
We have to remember that once we were the same kids who never listened, now as parents it haunts us to be on the receiving end. We can only pray as they take their ow paths. Hoping...we carry on. Heartfelt Villanelle.
Ah, the worst thing about being a parent is knowing or experiencing that they don't listen to us and make mistakes, sometimes big sometimes small. Even though we warn them, sometimes they have to learn for themselves..
