inspired by hamlet and the craggy coastline of california

(which i've never seen)

something bizarre

about feeling

description of which is tingling on tip of tongue

dark and sad and lost

here

stagnating

years

fermenting thoughts

anger

itchingburningflyawayanxious dreams

trapped

finally tip-toed on eroded grey wall,

looking out under pitch sky

over churning ocean that siren sings of the leap

a cry on the tip of my tongue,

i tumble over the edge.

just a bit

just a bit

and i drop fast and far toward the waves before

i am parachute caught,

set gently on the crests, kept afloat, but

i test the waters with hungering lips,

take a mouthful

it's warm and salty

bittersweet

thick and

light and

overwhelmingly tasteless

beneath,

a prismic rainbow and whirling undertow beckon to carry me home

i let go.
